۞ names in block capitals with the exception of the ORIGIN itself, block capitals are used to refer to entities that operate with a higher understanding of the inner workings of the universe.
۞ ORIGIN both the theoretical establishment of concepts like fate, logic/order, time, infinity, and chaos that took place before the creation of the universe, and the collective identity of the cardinal forces.
۞ entities of ORIGIN also known as the cardinal forces of the universe. they have little sense of individuality, as they are part of everything and everyone. they identify more closely with concepts rather than traditional names. the four entities are INFINITY (GOD), CHAOS (ENTROPY/DIRECTOR), LOGIC, and FATE.
۞ order a category of certain types of angels with unique traits and roles.

۞ angel eternal creatures created by GOD. they're susceptible to corruption and lose their mortality once afflicted.
۞ seraphim the highest order of angels, tasked with defending GOD, though they rarely see IT. they are associated with fire.
۞ archangel one of the lower orders of angels, tasked with the protection of mankind.
۞ corrupted angel angels who have been tainted by chaos. their sclera, wings, and halos turn grey or black over time. they are prone to disorder. this process is sometimes reversible, but if not, it results in eventual death.
۞ the ark also known as the sphere, this is the intersection of all of the orders of angels. can be compared to heaven, but is not the same as the afterlife. does not exist in a physical location. it was created to separate the temporal from the eternal.
۞ the surface the equivalent of the earth.

it's inevitable that joy is transient; all people forget their blessings and surrender to their neurosis in a matter of time. or perhaps it's when they are blessed, that neurosis festers.the temporal are such powerless, pathetic creatures that they will always naturally gravitate towards disorder; the affluent grow greedy, while the destitute grow hopeless. the satisfied become idle, so long as nothing needs to change, and the idle become jaded.
left empty, wanting, and restless, the temporal inflict their woes upon each other in a rippling butterfly effect, resulting in the phenomenon is known as corruption.corruption lies dormant in all living creatures and spreads like a contagion once activated. even the joys of those with infinite comfort become blunted by the stasis. order turns to chaos; leaders become corrupt, driven by the desperation for power, and in their despair, the people follow. the eternal angels, who once walked alongside man free from corruption, wither and fall prey to mortality on exposure....the suggestion that this corruption is either part of the human condition or the result of a lady, an apple, and a magical tree, is laughable.

long ago, mankind was peaceful, as the ORIGIN provided for their every need. there was no poverty, no hunger, no strife, and no power struggle between the people. the gods were kind to them, and they were cordial in return. but they were simple creatures back then, and not the intelligent, resourceful, empathetic ones of today - closer to beasts in mind than anything. so, it was inevitable that they'd misstep.if only they had known their place and accepted their powerlessness at the heel of the gods, things would have been different.though peaceful, mankind understood they were missing something, and like the spoilt children they were, they were hopelessly drawn to it. they would forsake all to acquire it.they asked,
why does the ORIGIN deserve such power?
why are we the lesser, imperfect beings?
why are we forced to beg for assistance at the feet of immeasurable power?❝ WHY MUST
WE BE SO DIFFERENT? ❞❝ WHY MUST WE SUFFER? ❞

so █████, of the ORIGIN, against the advice of the others, casted down ITS wings and retreated from the skies to walk among the people on the same ground.for a moment, all was well, but the people, entrenched in their own obsession with the eternal, demanded more. they insisted, if you are to understand us, then you would suffer as we've suffered, and █████ agreed, putting the faith the people had once put in the ORIGIN.I would like to better understand you, she said. so do what you will.
as her wings remained in the heavens, █████ was at the mercy of the people. she was able to understand sadness, hunger, fatigue, weakness, inferiority, stress, fear, and pain.and humiliation. and worthlessness. and suffering.perhaps it was simply an oversight on the humans' part, she may have thought, but why were the other beings able to laugh, to rest, and to play? in fact, it seemed like that was all they were doing. surely this wasn't the average human experience.confused, yet still willing to place the faith the humans had placed in the ORIGIN at one point, the naïve god allows them to continue.

she learns to hopeand she dies with it many months later after the starvation, sleep deprivation, and internal bleeding took its toll."we have defeated one of yours, and thus would ask for your power in return," the people tell the ORIGIN.the ORIGIN agrees that each part of IT will bestow an eternal gift unto mankind as proof of their victory.angered by the tragedy, GOD chooses to condemn the people with the curse of morality. in ITS eyes, guilt is realized.favoring the humans, LOGIC chooses to bestow the people with the gift of curiosity. in ITS eyes, knowledge is realized.to level the scales with GOD, FATE bestows the people with the gift of possibility. in ITS eyes, free will is realized.the fourth and final cardinal force had already bestowed the people with the gift of equality. in ITS eyes, empathy was realized.with their newfound gifts, mankind finally understood their sin.

ENTROPY, the cardinal force who had formed most of the universe, contemplates ITS stance for a thousand years after mankind's betrayal. in ITS solitude, the hope IT had died with had festered into the desire for vindication.in the vast emptiness with nothing to consider but the audacity of mankind, and after IT is reborn into its eternal body, IT tells the people,I have understood you and your woes,and in time, you will understand mine.I bestow the temporal with the gift of futility. in MY eyes, nihilism is realized.I bestow all of existence with the gift of chaos. from MY hands, disorder and corruption are realized.and by MY halo, the end will be realized.if you demand the heavens when I have given you the world, then do not pray for rain when I give you the sun.

the sight of her sparks a vague familiarity, as if she were a part of the world that has simply slipped everyone's collective mind for a moment. you've forgotten by now, but she and you have known each other since the beginning of time.
she is your only ally, your greatest adversary, and everyone you have ever been.

once a divine being with tremendous power to rewrite logic and time itself, now just a curious wandering entity who has forgotten her purpose and identity after passing on her power to another vessel in attempt to escape a certain fate at the hands of mankind.unfortunately, her incomplete state had eroded most of her personality, leaving a nearly blank slate. while she's still relearning much about the world and its people, DIRECTOR is currently an impressionable being with somewhat childlike wonder. despite her naïveté, tenacity is one of her strongest traits and she despises those who would surrender to the whims of fate easily.along with her memory, many of her mental faculties remain missing; she's prone to wandering and bouts of disorientation, as her body continues to search for her missing pieces without her.

in her truest form, she is simply a ████ ██ ████ ██████ unable to physically interact with the world. she's able to materialize a body, but it lacks functioning organs; whether or not her body is simply an ████████ █████ of the ████ has yet to be revealed. the halo, on the other hand, is a structure made of unknown, high temperature inorganic matter that ████████ the ████ ██████ in order to preserve her █████████████.everyone has an uncanny feeling that her memory will change her for the worse.

when any metric of her body is attempted to be observed (other than physical measurements that can be perceived with the eye alone), it is not uncommon for the device to malfunction or outright break. human technology cannot comprehend what it has measured.

an entity of ORIGIN who created the universe along with the other three gods. when mankind demanded empathy and equality from her, she naïvely gave it to them, not realizing they had no intention of reciprocating. being an initially generous god, she had given up her immortality temporarily as a show of peace. mankind saw this as an opportunity to use her as an exchange for power, and IT died under horrific conditions. ITS energy was returned to the void, and IT spent a thousand years in quiet solitude before IT was able to resurrect and take its revenge.following ITS descent, ITS wings were left in the heavens, which GOD used to create the Ark from, and house all angels to separate them from humanity's rot.ENTROPY's halo is where her existence is stored after her death, as it was all that remained when her mortal body perished. her immortality is untouched, but her body differs from the rest of the gods in that it can be destroyed.though initially gentle, she now detests mankind and waits with bated breath for their extinction. their lives and deaths mean nothing to her, and she plays with their fates as if they're nothing but actors in a play of her own warped creation. she takes on the secondary name DIRECTOR as a narcissistic nod to her own egocentric behavior.in response, FATE excludes ENTROPY from allowing fate to work in tandem with her will, unlike the rest of the gods, damning her to the whims of it as well.

NOTE: Angel is known to refuse help even when they're not in a position to deny it. it seems they have deep-seated trust issues and a fair bit of paranoia.

❝ ...if god has forgiven you, he sure as hell didn't send me on his behalf to deliver the message. what do I look like, an angel? have you even seen this halo? ❞

your average delinquent nightmare who's no stranger to frequent confrontation, fighting, deceit, destruction of property, intoxication, and whatever else it is that those kids get up to. avoid making eye contact; they like to play with their food before they eat it.

Angel comes from an extremely abusive home life that was immediately followed by homelessness. they find it exceedingly difficult to meld with society, struggling to foster meaningful relationships and keep their aggression contained long enough to maintain a job.they possess frightening intelligence and have adapted to exploiting others for survival, so manipulating their way through life has become second nature - call it one of the gifts their mother bestowed upon them before her untimely death.they make a living by discreetly supplying and trading illicit substances, medical supplies, counterfeit technology, and weapons illegally. the shady nature of underground transactions means that inevitably, there's some dishonest practice happening in order to meet unrealistic demands of clients seeking illegal goods that may not even be attainable. and well, broken contracts, unfulfilled orders, and deception tend to make people disappear. they insist that they pursue this line of work out of necessity, but everyone around them recognizes that they're far more capable than they let on. the question on everyone's mind is: is this just thinly-veiled self sabotage?angel deeply fears any sort of emotional intimacy, as they live in a state of near constant hypervigilance and are unable to disengage survival mode long enough to develop social bonds.they've said that the only comforting certainty in their life is that their days are numbered. whether their story ends by betrayal, overdose, suicide, or murder — between their risk-taking behavior and line of work something will have to give eventually.

a troubled girl who has some sort of tie to the divine - she sees threatening messages and drawings of eyes scrawled over walls and around people, seemingly claiming that GOD IS WATCHING. whether it's a threat, a warning, or a twisted reassurance, something is coming, and no one will ever believe her when her premonitions are obfuscated by her existing paranoia and hallucinations.

one of angel's only friends. she's a soft-spoken girl of few words and prefers to communicate via an accessibility texting app, even face-to-face unless she has a particularly strong bond with the one she's communicating with. her turbulent home life has shaped most of her meek personality, but under angel's rough companionship, she hopes to be able to hold her own eventually.her parents have high expectations for success, strongly discourage when she speaks her mind, and are prominent members of the church; religion is a value that they've decided silence needs to structure her life around, fearing that she'll "succumb to the wiles of the devil" without it.to minimize conflict, she seeks to be as convenient and obedient as possible rather than a person who makes her own choices. when conflict is unavoidable, she chooses to turn to obsessive prayer, hoping a divine force will save her from her dilemma instead of taking action to change her situation.she feels trapped by the religious beliefs imposed upon her, but finds herself unable to escape them for fear of the consequences.
